BASI Level 1 Instructor (Formally Trainee Instructor Course): This is the first step to gaining an internationally recognised qualification. The course is the same as the one we run in the UK. Though the benefit of doing the course on a mountain is that we have more scope to try different terrain, thought the grading system and course structure is EXACTLY the same. To apply for the Level 1 Snowboard Instructor course students must:

  • Be able to ride confidently on red runs, linking rhythmical small radius turns close to the fall line at a steady pace.
  • Be able to ride black runs confidently in control.
  • Have at least 10 weeks experience of riding on snow and probably more.

This course will be open to snowboarders who have reached a technical level as described in the guidelines set out above. The object of the course is to familiarise students with the BASI Association and to prepare them for further learning. It is an opportunity for people to find out what snowboard teaching involves and the type of development they will require before attending the Snowboard Instructor Level 2 Course. Thus students will then attend the Snowboard Instructor Level 2 Course with a considerable understanding of:

  • The technical elements of snowboarding
  • The Central Theme
  • The Principles of Teaching

On completion of the Level 1 Instructor Course and having completed the other requirements detailed HERE students are qualified to teach on artificial surfaces (at indoor and dryslopes) within Great Britain and are individually debriefed and advised on the best way forward and when to present themselves for the Snowboard Instructor Level 2 Course, which is needed before the student can teach on a mountain. Students may be required to repeat the Course.

Duration: 5 full days on the mountain with lectures in the evening.

Just £350
